The challenge – creating the Congleton Pride branding

Congleton Pride needed a new identity that captured the spirit of its community. The existing visuals lacked the vibrancy and inclusivity the event stood for. They also needed something flexible enough to use across posters, banners, social media and merchandise. We designed an identity that celebrated individuality and togetherness – joyful, accessible and unmistakably Congleton.

The process – designing an inclusive and flexible identity

We developed a visual system centred on a distinctive bear mascot, a local symbol instantly recognised in the area. Alongside the primary icon, we created ten logo variants inspired by different LGBTQ+ groups, celebrating the full diversity of the community. Vibrant colours, geometric shapes and expressive typography came together to form a dynamic, modern identity.

Accessibility guided each design decision. We tested colour contrast, font size and layout to make sure every element was clear and readable, both in print and online.

The system was built to adapt. From parade signage to digital campaigns, every piece could be scaled, remixed and reused while staying consistent.

Colorful abstract circular design featuring red, yellow, green, and purple segments, set against a gradient background.

The result – a brand that unites the community

The new Congleton Pride branding brought fresh energy and visibility to the event. The bear became an instant community symbol, appearing on flags, badges and across social media.

This identity went on to win a Cheshire Pride Award, recognising its impact and inclusivity. Today, the brand continues to help Congleton Pride grow as a vibrant, welcoming celebration of diversity.
