THE CHALLENGE – visual identity for A NEW EVENT

The Saltways were launching a film festival for charities and needed a poster and motion graphics to promote it. There was no existing branding for the event, so the identity had to be built from scratch – something that could work equally well as a large-format print poster, a screen graphic and an animated social media piece.

THE PROCESS – ONE IMAGE, TWO FORMATS

Several poster directions were explored before one idea took hold: a dandelion seed head, captured mid-blow. It was simple enough to hold up at any scale and carried just enough movement to make the transition into animation feel natural rather than forced.

Once the static design landed, the animation followed naturally – the dandelion moving from full bloom to mid-blow, seed pods drifting across the frame as the festival name appeared on screen. Because the concept was strong, the animation didn’t need to be complex. Every element was illustrated as a standalone asset, so the visual language could extend into future materials without starting from scratch.

THE RESULT – AN IDENTITY THAT LOOKS ESTABLISHED

The Saltways now have a festival identity that feels like it’s been running for longer than it has. The poster works across print and screen, the animation gives social media the kind of movement that earns attention, and the standalone assets mean the identity can grow with the event rather than being rebuilt each year.

DELIVERABLES
