ABOUT

A man with a bald head and short beard, wearing a black t-shirt, stands against a light grey background.

WHAT I DO

I design reports, publications, brand systems, data visualisations, video and the templates teams rely on day to day. Most of my clients don’t have an in-house design team, so the work I produce needs to hold up without me – used consistently, by non-designers, across everything an organisation puts out.

Accessibility is built into every project from the start, not added afterwards. That means correct reading order, WCAG-compliant colour systems, tagged PDFs, alt text that describes findings rather than formats, and documents that work for screen readers as well as they do on paper. It’s not a separate service. It’s how I work.

background

Before starting Watercat Creative I spent three years leading creative strategy across pharmaceutical and healthcare clients. Before that, I worked in-house and agency-side across education, FMCG, the third sector and design agencies – with freelance work running alongside all of it. Ten years of solving the same problem in different settings: organisations doing important work, producing documents nobody reads, with a brand system that doesn’t stretch to cover what the team actually needs.

I studied advertising and design in Barcelona, and I now live and work in Leeds.

how i work

I work on a project basis, through retainers, or as an embedded part of a team for longer partnerships. Most projects start with a conversation about what’s not working and what needs to change. No pitch decks, no jargon, no proposals before I understand the problem.
